Event Description & Walkthrough

Step into the shoes of a professional guardian, fiduciary, DPOA or Health Care Surrogate in this one-of-a-kind, hands-on training experience. The GSI course transforms learning into action by placing participants in a lifelike simulation of a senior's living environment—designed to mimic the complex, cluttered, and often overwhelming realities professionals face when entering a client’s home.

Participants won’t just sit and listen—they’ll move through case rooms filled with real items, documents, and clues that tell the story of a fictional ward. From partially completed legal paperwork to prescription bottles, phone bills, and hidden financial assets, every object holds a clue to the individual’s life, needs, and risks.

Begin the day by meeting your peers, and then diving into immersive casework where you will:

  • Investigate clues independently
  • Collaborate with others to evaluate findings and brainstorm best next steps.
  • Practice critical thinking, problem-solving, and situational awareness.
  • Gain insight into common (and uncommon) household items that may indicate financial abuse, health needs, legal red flags, or social isolation.
  • Reflect on what was missing, out of place, or potentially a sign of risk.

The course wraps with final discussions and the delivery of practical tools you can use in the field immediately. This is more than training—it’s a real-world simulation that builds confidence, awareness, and investigative instincts.

This course is approved for Guardian and General CE, CLE, CSA, CTFA and CJE accredidation hours

Guardian Credits will be distributed as 6 credit hours: 1.5 hour Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation, 1.5 hour of fiduciary responsibilities, 1.5 hour advanced directives and 1.5 hour ethics
