Este mes estaremos leyendo Hija de la fortuna de Isabel Allende. Es el primer libro de la “trilogía involuntaria” (todos pueden considerarse libros independientes y siguen la larga saga familiar de los Del Valle). Sigue a una joven chilena disfrazada de hombre en su aventura por la fiebre del oro de California en 1849. Un retrato palpitante de una época marcada por la violencia y la codicia en la cual los protagonistas rescatan el amor, la amistad, la compasión y el valor.

En este grupo nos reunimos periódicamente para conversar sobre la lectura de un libro en español. Ya sea que busques un lugar para aprender y practicar tu español, o si ya eres hablante pero quieres una razón para disfrutar de más literatura en español y compartir en un ambiente relajado, todos y todas son bienvenidos!

Join us for our next meeting!

This month, we will be reading Hija de la fortuna by Chilean author Isabel Allende. The first book in the “involuntary trilogy” (all could be considered standalone books and follow the long family line of the Del Valle). A tale of one young woman's quest in the chaos of the 1849 California Gold Rush. It’s a sweeping portrait of an era marked by violence and greed, in which the characters reclaim love, friendship, compassion and courage.

In this book club, we meet periodically to discuss a book in Spanish. Everyone is welcome, whether you are looking for a place to learn and practice your Spanish, or are already a speaker but want a reason to enjoy more Spanish-language literature and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere.
