About this Event

Hot, boring, late summer. What to plant?

Bearded irises! With little maintenance, these hard working plants will reward you with dramatic blooms each spring for years to come.

Here at NHG, we agree that there's really not much to do in August except two things: plant wildflowers, and bearded irises (oh, 3- there's watering). While we really love our Texas wildflowers, we especially look forward to the arrival of the bearded iris rhizomes-- the 'bulb' that becomes the beautiful, exotic blooms on tough, heat tolerant plants that spread each year, and complement any sunny space with dynamic, pointed leaves. Oh yeah, they're also drought tolerant, so you'll water all this beauty less!

Join NHG's Rusty E. Allen and learn how to select, plant, and maintain these great perennials in this free introductory class. A comprehensive presentation, with time for your questions, like: what's a bearded iris?
