About this Event

Did you know that autumn and late winter are some of the best times to garden in North Carolina? Cool-weather crops thrive in milder temperatures, bringing fewer pests, less heat stress, and fresh produce well into the cooler months.

Join us for a free, hands-on workshop on Friday, September 18th from 9am-11am to learn how to plant, grow, and harvest a thriving cool-season garden.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What to Plant: Top cool-season crops (spinach, kale, broccoli, radishes, carrots, and garlic)
  • When to Plant: Mastering local frost dates and planting schedules
  • How to Protect: Simple row covers and cold-frame techniques to extend your harvest
  • Seed Library Access: How to check out free seed packets at your local library branch
