Grow Fresh Sprouts in a Jar

Join Broward County Master Gardener Volunteers for a fun, hands-on workshop and discover how easy it can be to grow fresh sprouts right in your kitchen!
During Grow Fresh Sprouts in a Jar, participants will learn what sprouts are, how they differ from microgreens, and the simple steps needed to safely grow them at home. We’ll cover proper seed preparation, soaking, rinsing and draining, harvest timing, and how to recognize signs of spoilage.
Participants will also see a live sprouting demonstration and start their own jar of sprouts to continue growing at home.
Workshop Highlights:

- Practice proper soaking, rinsing, and draining techniques
- Learn important food-safety and handling practices
- Know when sprouts are ready to harvest
- Recognize common signs of spoilage
- Take home practical guidance for growing sprouts successfully

Option 1: Workshop Only — $5
Includes expert instruction, one sprouting-seed packet, and a Growing Sprouts Guide.
Option 2: Workshop + Sprouting Kit — $35 (Recommended)
Includes expert instruction plus a complete sprouting kit:
- One mason jar with strainer lid
- One jar holder
- One blackout sleeve
- One drip tray
- Two ounces of sprouting seeds
Your sprouting kit will be available for pickup at the workshop.
