Group Bike Ride to Disco Alfresco

Ride bikes with friends, learn street safety skills, and dance the night away in the great outdoors.
Introduction
Join us for a group ride! Learn about safely navigating city streets by bike and make new friends, all with guidance from our expert staff.
We will meet at Make Ready Market (203 8th St.) at 7 PM, and roll out to the Sunken Garden Theater (3875 N St Mary's St.) at 7:30 PM. The ride will cover approximately 2.5 miles and move at a 10-12 MPH pace.
The group ride is completely FREE, and Ghisallo Cycling Initiative is offering free tickets to Disco Alfresco ($10 value) for those joining us on the ride!

Disco Alfresco
Every Thursday evening through JULY 30TH, Disco Alfresco will transform SUNKEN GARDEN THEATER into an open-air NATURE NIGHT CLUB with world class DJs, family friendly vibes, and sunsets that melt into disco lights.
Powered by SoundCream Airstream and energized by dance music DJS from across Texas, this event will turn Thursday evenings into a summer dance destination for everyone.
July 2 is PERREO PICNIC.
Perreo Club launched in 2021 when Austin DJ-promoter Suxxy Puxxy carved out a queer-friendly Latinx dance floor for underground reggaetón and perreo. The party’s first home—Cuatro Gato’s tight, neon-lit room—echoed Puerto Rico’s perreos de marquesina and quickly drew a devoted crowd.
An official SXSW debut that same year, headlined by producers Play N Skillz, catapulted Perreo Club beyond Austin. Residencies followed in Dallas, McAllen, El Paso and Houston (Paradise Palace), plus a monthly slot at Miami’s 1-800 Lucky—each stop built around a “family” of local perreo DJs.
Highlights include a 15 K-strong set on the Mix Stage at EDC Mexico 2022, curating Boiler Room’s first Latinx showcase in Texas (and a filmed sequel with Ape Drums), and SXSW 2022-23 lineups featuring Isabella Lovestory and Girl Ultra. A 2023 City of Austin grant now powers rotating venues and an expanded DJ roster, keeping Perreo Club the state’s go-to hub for all-inclusive, sweat-soaked perreo.
Ghisallo Cycling Initiative
Ghisallo Cycling Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing bicycle education and encouragement in Austin and San Antonio. We envision a community of comfortable and confident lifelong riders. We see a future in which all ages and abilities can explore and connect with their communities by bicycle, and all have access to bikes at an affordable cost.
Requirements
- all participants must wear a helmet for the entire duration of the ride
- all participants must sign a liability release waiver from Ghisallo Cycling Initiative before riding
- all participants under the age of 18 must be checked in by an adult
