After nearly 5 years, the end is in sight. A group of six Loveland High School alumni from the 1960’s came together with the idea of enhancing an existing veteran monument at Loveland High School with the approval of the Junior ROTC students that designed and built the monument at Loveland High School. After some discussion it was decided to approach the city of Loveland. Parks and Recreation embraced the idea but then approached us with “we would like to use your project as a catalyst to build a plaza in the City of Loveland. We agreed unanimously, went public nearly 3 ½ years ago on our quest to raise nearly $1.5 million. We asked ourselves what have we done? But not to worry. Yes, we have had those days of worry but there is always a new event that keeps the inner fires burning. The local population has supported at levels that are hard to describe. They say it takes a village, but in this case, it has been a city with a “HEART” and we are eternally grateful. We are very near to our goal and are committed to getting this built for our many local veterans. On April 8th we are holding a groundbreaking celebration for the Veterans Honor Monument. You are all invited to join us at 11:00am at 950 North Boyd Lake Ave. at the entrance to Loveland Sports Park. Watch your committee and supporters dig in with their shovels and do a little manual labor to get this started!! Hope to see you there!
