Groundbreaking Celebration: I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange

This milestone event will bring together transportation leaders, local elected officials, community members, and project partners to mark the start of construction on improvements to the interchange connecting Interstate 280 and Wolfe Road.

The I-280/Wolfe Road Interchange Improvement Project is designed to modernize one of the most heavily used gateway corridors serving Cupertino’s residential neighborhoods, major employers, retail centers, and regional destinations. The project will enhance mobility by improving traffic circulation on and off the freeway and addressing long-standing congestion challenges during peak commute periods.

Key improvements include:

• Upgrades to the interchange overpass and ramps at Wolfe Road and I-280
• Improved traffic flow and intersection operations near the interchange
• Enhanced roadway safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists
• Better access to nearby businesses, shopping areas, and employment centers

Once complete, these improvements will help reduce congestion, improve travel reliability, and support economic activity throughout Cupertino and the surrounding Silicon Valley community. The project will also enhance regional connectivity for commuters and visitors traveling along the I-280 corridor.
