Gritty City Gravel Series | West Chester

Hone your off-pavement skills, meet new friends, and have some fun during the Gritty City Gravel Series.

Each ride will kick off from a Trek Philadelphia-area shop at a no-drop pace on mixed terrain. Gravel is lurking everywhere, so get ready to explore the dirt outside your door April - August.

Helmets are required, and lights and hydration are recommended. Be sure to download your route of choice to your head unit for step by step navigation.

• West Chester 15 mile route: This route is a 60/40 mix of paved trail and gravel that takes you along the historic Schuylkill Canal to Valley Forge National Park. At mile 4 you'll pass the 300+ year old witness tree, so be sure to stop and take a picture! This route is flat with minimal climbing. The halfway point is the Betzwood parking lot bathroom and water refill station.

• West Chester 25 mile route: This route starts the same as the 15 mile route but diverges to add more gravel than pavement. Be sure to stop at mile 4 to take pics of the witness tree, then a few miles later you'll cross the bridge into Valley Forge National Park where you'll explore the trails around the fields in the heart of the park. This ride has more surfaces, a little more climbing, and passes the Betzwood parking lot bathroom and water refill station three times.

• West Chester 45 mile adventure route: This option has a heavy emphasis on adventure for experienced riders who love to underbike. The route will take you down single track trails, creek crossings, possibly mud, signifigant climbing, and adventuring. Make sure your skills, fitness, and bikes are up to the task! This ride will take more than 3 hours to complete. 45c tires or wider recomended!
