In collaboration with Prøverommet, this course will help you to start building experience in operating lights for concerts, clubs and live events – and put it into practice at the Prøverommet event on monday 20. october!
GRIP is open to anyone over the age of 18, and we emphasize our goal of welcoming more women, non-binary and transgender people in sound and lighting engineering roles in Bergen’s cultural organizations. No previous experience is needed.
Prøverommet is a low-threshold environment for trying out new artistic material in front of an audience using any medium: dance, theatre, poetry, visual arts, music.

INSTRUCTORS
Maja Bergebakken Sundt (she) is a versatile theater worker and lighting designer based in Bergen. She has a master’s degree in theater science from the University of Bergen. She has worked as a producer for several theaters and festivals in Bergen and Vestland, and occasionally writes as a freelance theater critic. As a lighting designer, Maja has worked in dance, theater, concerts and festivals.
Ola Fredenlund (he) has worked as a full-time freelance lighting technician in Bergen for over 10 years. He started out as a volunteer for Kraftetaten at Det Akademiske Kvarter, and has since worked his way up the business. He has experience from small and large-scale concerts, theatre, festivals and events, and has covered all parts of the job as rigger, system technician, lighting board operator and designer. Some of his projects include Bergenfest, Festspillene i Bergen, regular comedy shows at Ole Bull Scene, and the Peer Gynt-theatre at Gålå.

About GRIP
GRIP is an ongoing series of courses to give more people the opportunity to gain practical experience and skills in sound and light engineering. Women, non-binary and transgender people are still strongly under-represented in the sound and light engineering field, and we want to do something about that. The development of the cultural scene is not just about creating a variety of people on stage, but also backstage – in production, light and sound engineering, and in all the other important roles.
GRIP is a collaborative project between Bergen Kjøtt, BIT Teatergarasjen, Prøverommet, Carte Blanche, AKKS Bergen, sound engineer Irene Bjørke and light engineer Maja Bergebakken Sundt.
GRIP is organized with partners in Bergen including Borealis – a festival for experimental music, Landmark / Bergen kunsthall, Østre and Vill Vill Vest and is supported by Sparebanken Vest, Bergen municipality, Kulturrom, Balansekunst and apap-FEMINIST FUTURES (Creative Europe program in the EU).
