We are kicking off the season with local author and fly fishingexpert Greg DeMars, who has just published his new book,
Urban Fly Fishing, Dallas/Ft. Worth. Greg is a true local expert, and his talk will be packed with invaluable information for those of us who love fishing right here in our area. If you have ever wondered where to fish, the best times to go, and which flies
will work best in local waters, this is a must attend event. Greg’s
insights will help you elevate your urban fly fishing game!
Greg DeMars is a retired mechanical engineer who began
his fly fishing adventures in the Colorado Rockies in the
early 1990s and expanded his range from there, fishing all
over the world. From the Devils River in his native Texas to
New Zealand’s South Island and the foothills of the Indian
Himalayas, Greg has pursued his passion for fly fishing with
the analytical mind of an engineer and the creativity of a
blues guitarist and songwriter, gaining valuable insight about
fish behavior and fly fishing tactics along the way. An award winning photographer, Greg ties his own flies and enjoys
woodworking, building custom fly rods, and cooking dinner
for friends. Greg is married to his college sweetheart and lives
in the Dallas area.
Fort Worth Fly Fishers meet at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at UNT Health Science Center in Room RES114 (Beyer Hall) in the Education & Research building, 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth. We will meet for dinner at Flying Fish at 5:30 for dinners, and then to the club meeting room at 6:30 for the Fish Camp presentation.
