We'll gather and register at the Start Point (Joel’s Java Coffee Shop, 120 South Main Street, next to the Westin Hotel - 864-241-9700 ext. 4201) at 12:30 PM with a step off at 1:00 PM. There is a large parking garage just behind the Westin. There is also a free parking lot on the roof of the building at the corner of West North Street and Richardson Street. Walk from southside of parking lot to Main Street. Right on Main and 3 blocks to Joel’s.
There are both 5 and 10 KM options The 5 KM includes a small, nice park with an Indian statue, a walk along the Reedy River passing where old factories used to produce all kinds of products using the Reedy River for power. You'll also see the Reedy River Falls from the ground and from the Liberty Suspension Bridge. You will see the jet plane that was hit during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Finally, the walk takes you down both sides of Main Street where you'll try to find the little brass mice hidden there.
For the 10 KM you'll walk through a very fine neighborhood and a large park with shaded and open trails. You'll pass the zoo and continue walking along the Reedy River on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Both options rated 2A.
Directions: Take I-26 south to US 25 South. In Travelers Rest, left onto 276. Left on Buncombe which turns into North Street. See you there!
