Parade Honors America’s 250th and USS Greeneville’s 30th Anniversary
This year’s nighttime parade will recognize two important milestones: America’s 250th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the USS Greeneville.
The USS Greeneville (SSN 772) is a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine named after Greeneville, Tennessee, following a successful grassroots campaign led by local residents. The effort was inspired by the fact that components for the submarine were manufactured by Greeneville Metal Manufacturing.
Current and former crew members, along with supporters of the USS Greeneville, will serve as Grand Marshals for the parade.
The parade begins at 9 p.m. at Towne Square Shopping Center and will travel through downtown before ending at Greeneville High School. Spectators can expect marching bands, floats, classic cars, community organizations, and more.
Fireworks
The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display launched from the hill behind Burley Stadium.
Traffic, Parking, and Safety Information
To help ensure the safety of children near moving vehicles, candy and other items will not be permitted to be thrown or handed out during the parade.
For public safety, the parade route will close to through traffic beginning at 8 p.m. and will remain closed until after the fireworks display concludes.
Street parking along the parade route will be restricted beginning at midnight on Saturday. Those parking in lots along Main Street between Church Street and Tusculum Boulevard should be aware that those areas will be among the last to reopen following the fireworks show. Motorists may experience delays of 30 to 45 minutes before exiting those locations.
There is no entry fee for parade participants, but registration is required by Wednesday, July 1st. Sign up here: https://www.greenevilletn.gov/forms/parade-entry-form-2026
