THIS MONTH >> Greene & Greene’s Libby house (1905) was a prominent fixture on Pasadena’s “Millionaire’s Row” of Orange Grove Avenue until its demolition in the 1960s. The main staircase of the house was salvaged and later entered the collection of The Huntington. While the house was torn down, how did parts of it come to be safeguarded? How does Greene & Greene’s approach to architecture and furnishings develop during this period, and how does the presence of this architectural remnant enhance our understanding of the Greene & Greene furniture in the gallery?
Join docents from the Gamble House in Pasadena as they host drop-in talks about the salvaged staircase from the Greene & Greene Libby house.
