Join us for the fifth offering of the Green Screen Series & Eco Film Forum, a thought-provoking and audience-engaging event series hosted by Kootenai Environmental Alliance and the CDA Library.
Each month, we're sharing an environmentally focused film to provide insight and spark a conversation about how to approach these topics locally.
Films and discussions will take place in the Coeur d'Alene Library Community Room, from 2 - 4pm.
Our next film, on April 4th, is Merchants of Doubt.
Our final Green Screen Series for this season will be the film Merchants of Doubt.
Merchants of Doubt is a documentary exposing how professional pundits and contrarian scientists, acting as "experts," use disinformation tactics to cast doubt on scientific consensus. Inspired by the book of the same name by Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway, it traces how methods used to obscure the dangers of tobacco were adapted by special interests to delay action on climate change.
The film will be followed by a discussion with Kara Odegard, the founding partner at Measure Meant, a Spokane-based consultancy specializing in sustainability and climate planning.
Kara spent four years using a collaborative leadership model to guide climate planning for the City of Spokane. In her role at Measure Meant, she works with municipalities, tribes, and businesses across the U.S. to develop data-informed climate strategies to mitigate climate impacts and risks. Kara is the instructor for the Climate Action Planning certificate program at Gonzaga University. The certificate is offered as part of Gonzaga Climate Institute’s Climate Literacy program and under a partnership with the University’s Center for Lifelong Learning.
Mark your calendars and join us Saturday, April 4th at the CDA Library in the Community Room at 2pm.
