Get ready to explore the great outdoors with Farmacy Outdoors! Our expert-led course covers everything you need to know to start hiking & map reading & using a compass confidently. Learn about gear selection, navigation with topographic maps and compasses, route planning, and bushwalking skills in just 5 hours. Join us for a 6 km adventure and put your new knowledge to the test. Start your outdoor journey with Farmacy Outdoors today! This course is suitable for fit beginners with the ability to walk on dirt trails, single track and off-track for up to a maximum of 3 hours or less approximately around 6 kilometres. Sorry no children under 18 years of age for this event, we can arrange tutorial for younger children by request another time. All Snacks & drinks provided , you may bring your own, remember National Parks require us to remove all our own rubbish [Leave no Trace] All gear provided [compass and gaiters are loaned, maps and handbook are yours to keep], bring a backpack, wet-weather gear, sun hat and long pants and hiking shoes. This is an all-weather event unless Park Closure or deemed unsafe. Start time 8.00am and Finishes at 1pm. In Summary: You will learn about what equipment you need to competently hike . You will learn how to read a topographic map and apply the learnt knowledge in the actual bush and terrain under supervision at all times. You will learn how to use and read a compass and apply such knowledge in the bush using your map and compass. You will learn how to find Checkpoints in the bush using your new skills. You will take home with you a copy of your map and route plan, and a Navigation and Hiking Toolkit handbook. All guides are Wilderness First Aid Trained and carry First Aid and EPIRB. Dave is a trained Outdoor Education Guide with two decades of Outdoor experience and Adventure Racing and Rogaining/ Orienteering experience.
