Green Light: Create a Play in a Day

Youngsters can join friends of the award-winning KIT Theatre to create, rehearse and perform a brand-new musical show in just one day. 

Children will get the chance to work with professional performers to create their own songs and stories. 

They will then rehearse and develop their work, while having the chance to also take on backstage roles such as set and lighting design. 

At the end of the day, participants will perform their new show to an audience of family and friends. 

This activity is suitable for primary school children, aged between 5 and 11.

Children can be left for the duration of the rehearsals with family members encouraged to return for the performance which starts at 2.15pm.
Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks for the day.

Accessibility

Outside: There is a ramp located to the left of the main entrance and there are steps to the right of the main entrance. 

The ramp is permanent with rails either side of the ramp. 

The main doors are sliding and open automatically. 

Inside: While there is step free access to the foyer and backstage area, the auditorium itself and the stage do not have step-free access.

There are disabled toilets located on the ground and second floor. Second floor toilets can be accessed via the lifts in the middle, at the back of the building. 

There are allocated spaces for wheelchair users in the auditorium where you can watch the performance. 

Getting There 

By Foot: The theatre is on Orsett Road close to the High Street, just off the town centre 

By Train: From Grays railway station on the c2c line, walk along the pedestrianised High Street and turn right into Orsett Road where you'll find the theatre just 200 metres on the left (0.3 miles / 7 minute walk) 

By Bus: Grays bus station is directly opposite the railway station, just 5 minutes' walk from the Thameside Complex 

By Car: The theatre is five miles from the Dartford Tunnel, where Grays is well signposted from the A13 (M25) Junction 30. Local parking is available at a car park behind the Thameside Complex in Cromwell Road, RM17 DHF, on streets in the immediate area close to the theatre, or at a pay-and-display car park at Morrisons supermarket which is a five-minute walk away from the complex – RM17 5YF.
