Green Drinks Newcastle - October gathering

October Green Drinks -Tues 20 Oct. This month, we are shining a light on Wetlands 🦢 🌿💧
Wetlands are important ecosystems, but if anything, they're a bit under appreciated. Our local Ramsar wetlands are internationally significant, supporting 250 bird species and a huge diversity of threatened invertebrates, mammals and amphibians. The wetlands are also sites of cultural importance to the Awabakal and Worimi people, with multiple camps and middens. Wetlands play an important role in capturing, filtering and releasing storm water, recharging underground aquafers, and reducing the impact of tidal surges and flooding. So many good things!
Do you have interesting wetland knowledge to share? For october green drinks, i propose we channel our inner bog monster and nerd out about wetland ecology.
