Join us to learn more about natural and green burial practices as well as the important role of death doulas with Sarah Clark of Lotus and Lavender Natural Burial.
Green burials refer to internment of the dead with minimal environmental impact and can include no toxic embalming chemicals, biodegradable caskets, no vaults, and more. In the past few years, green burials have become popular as more states and funeral homes embrace the process, including in New Hampshire. Come out to learn about green burials, what they entail, how to plan for one, and what to know about green burials in the Seacoast.
Death doulas are emerging as an invaluable part of end of life care, providing emotional, mental and practical support that’s fundamental to the transition of dying. The death doula role nicely complements the important roles of hospice staff and traditional end of life care. Due to constraints of insurance and the medical system, hospice services are restricted in what services they can perform, how much time can be spent, and ways of engagement. A death doula can fill these needs in a flexible, individualized way and provide a bridge between medical staff and family caregivers.
