This program offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from local artist Malcolm Cochran about his work in Greater Columbus. In dialogue with Rae Root, CMA’s Roy Lichtenstein Curatorial Fellow and curator of Greater Columbus, Cochran will reflect on his practice, process, and ideas.This program is free for members, $5 for nonmembers.

About the Artist
Malcolm Cochran works across mediums on large-scale sculptures, installations, and public art with an emphasis on place and implicit human presence and histories. He has exhibited at Artpark, MoMA PS1, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Wexner Center, Columbus Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Center, Weston Art Gallery, Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, Eastern State Penitentiary, Retretti Art Center, Finland, and Het Stroomhuis, Holland. Permanent public commissions include Brattleboro VT, Cleveland, Columbus, and Dublin OH, and Hudson River Park, NYC. He is the recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bellagio Center Residency Award, Italy, Awards in the Visual Arts 9, the OAC and GCAC, and a Cité Internationale des Arts residency, Paris. His Goodale Park Fountain received an Americans for the Arts 2014 Public Art Network Year in Review Award. In 2017 he was named the International Sculpture Center Educator of the Year. From 1987–2013, he was on the sculpture faculty at The Ohio State University.
