Great Southeast Pollinator Census
About this Event
Join other pollinator fans for this annual event that takes place in six Southeastern states. School groups, gardeners, families and individuals are all invited to be part of the project!
Each census-taker will choose a plant in the nature preserve to monitor for 15 minutes and will count how many pollinators visit it during that time. No, you don't have to be able to identify butterflies and bees! Pollinators will be counted by categories, which include.
- Bumble bees
- Carpenter bees
- Honey bees
- Small bees
- Wasps
- Flies
- Butterflies/Moths
- Other Insects
An insect ID and counting guide will be provided to help with identification. Count sheets will be provided, and the Pinellas Chapter will report the data to the University of Georgia, which sponsors the event. Results will be reported on the Chapter's Facebook page and in our monthly e-newsletter. Learn more: https://gsepc.org/
