Stephanie Cabala Schubel is the field lead and head bander for the Great Lakes PIping Plover Team. She has been working on the Great Lakes Piping Plover Project for 19 years. During this time, she has participated in the full range of activities necessary to keep the endangered Piping Plover safe and to promote its recovery.
In her talk, you will learn how to identify the Piping Plover from other shorebirds, how to recognize its habitat, and some basic biological information on the species. She will also provide an overview of the history of the project, conservation practices involved in recovery, and an update on the current status of the Great Lakes Piping Plover. You will learn where you can find more information on Plovers and the Great Lakes Piping Plover Project and how you can help this endangered shorebird on a beach near you.
