Love diving into classic and thought-provoking reads? Or have you always wanted to but didn't know where to start? Our Great Books Program is the perfect place for you!
Meet in-person with a local Calgary group to study the Great Books. You'll participate in a rigorous four-year sequence of weekly Socratic seminars dedicated to the foundational texts of Western civilization.
The program guides participants through more than 120 seminal works, organized into four years: the Greeks, Romans, Medievals, and Moderns. From The Odyssey to Confessions and from Hamlet to The Brothers Karamazov and beyond, participants engage in close reading and sustained dialogue on enduring questions of human nature, ethics, politics, and meaning. Each two-hour seminar is facilitated by two moderators who maintain a structured yet collaborative environment committed to good-faith inquiry and mutual edification.

Prospective participants are encouraged to review the program page in full before registering. Groups launch each fall and continue through the spring term, with scheduled breaks.
