People consistently put it at the top of the list of “Novels that changed my life.” That being said, it’s a Russian novel: it has a thick page count; all the characters have several nicknames to keep track off; philosophical digressions abound. It’s the perfect book for these cold, dark winter months. It’s also a novel best read with a group. All that made it the unanimous choice for our Winter Big Read.
