Great Backyard Bird Count with your Pittsburgh Park Rangers

Welcome to the Great Backyard Bird Count!

Join us at the Grandview Park Bandstand for a fun hour of birdwatching. This event is perfect for all ages and experience levels. Grab your binoculars and get ready to spot some feathered friends in their natural habitat. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, this is a great opportunity to learn more about our avian neighbors. Let's count some birds together and contribute to citizen science. Don't miss out on this exciting event!

• Dress for the weather. It's February in Pittsburgh in 2025, it could be 67F and sunny or 23F and snowy. Please keep your comfort in mind.
• Limited free parking is available on Bailey St. and a small parking lot at McLean at Allen Sts. We suggest using public transit, if possible.
• Wear sturdy shoes. The trails that we will be using are mostly paved but have uneven spots, stairs, and some elevation changes.
• There is a porta-potty available for use.
• While we encourage you to bring your own binoculars, we will have a few loaner pairs available.
• If you have a smartphone and would like to use it to help identify your observations, we suggest that you download the Merlin app before this event.
