You may be reaching for the snow shovel now, but it won't be long before it's time to break out the lawn mower! Are you tired of mowing, fertilizing and weeding your grass lawn? Are you worried about the negative environmental impact of your grass lawn? This talk will cover the brief history of the grass lawn, the reasons not to have one (or to make yours smaller) and low maintenance options to replace it.
Nancy Levine is Vice-President and a founding member of the Highland Park Garden Club, a Master Gardener and a lifelong environmentalist. She is on the Board of The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and is a volunteer for Tree Pittsburgh.
The meeting will be held in Brooks Hall at St. Andrew's Church, 5801 Hampton Street (use the entrance under the green metal awning - Brooks Hall is on the left). A business meeting will follow he program.
This program is part of the "Highland Park Garden Club Presents..." , a series of monthly programs designed to entertain and educate about gardening-related topics. Programs are free to HPGC members. Nonmembers are welcome to attend with an donation through Eventbrite ($10 suggested). All are welcome to join the club. Annual dues are $20.
