Connect with birds, nature, and each other through a worldwide community science project! We’re partnering with the John Burroughs Natural History Society and braving the winter chill for a walk along the O&W Rail Trail near the library. Learn about local bird species and keep an eye out for unique winter visitors like red crossbills.
What is the Great Backyard Bird Count?
The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a global, four-day event held each February. Participants around the world watch, count, and celebrate birds to help researchers track bird populations. Anyone can take part for as little as 15 minutes by reporting sightings using the Merlin Bird ID app or eBird.
