Gravesend Library CoderDojo

The sessions are free to attend and are run monthly and are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month between 10.45am - 1pm, at Gravesend Library.

∙ At a session, young people learn to program and develop websites, apps, programs, and games, they build things with code and electronics, they meet like-minded people and show off what they’ve been working on. We use lots of different materials and programmes, they code using Scratch, HTML/CSS, and Python, BBC Micro:Bits, Makey Makey, Littlebits, Ozobots, mBots and 3D printing and designing, and so much more.

∙ Parents pitch in! - As CoderDojo founder Bill Liao often says, “CoderDojo is free, but it’s not a free ride!” - Parents/Guardians are asked to stay for the duration of the Dojo with the young people and while there they are encouraged to help out in any way they can.

∙ One rule for kids: Be cool! - There is only one rule for young people attending a CoderDojo…Be Cool! - Bullying, disruptive behaviour, wasting people’s time etc. is considered to be uncool and not welcome in the Dojo environment. At the Dojo everyone is responsible for themselves and each other.

Projects are set so that children learn at their own pace, all our sessions are suitable for children aged 8 – 17 years. You must bring your own laptop to the session.

Spaces should be booked for each child wishing to take part.
