Grapevine Wine Tasting - Zinfandel

Harvest season – time to taste another splendid red wine: Zinfandel. For many years, Zinfandel was thought to be an true American wine, perhaps a ‘sport’ (mutation) from another red wine. However, its genome shows that its origin is even more exotic. It probably originated in Montenegro where it is called Kratosija. Even though Zinfandel is not truly a native Californian, Californian Zin’s are truly delicious. Please bring a favorite Zinfandel or one you would like to try and discover others as we share our opinions in a blind tasting of wines made with this important grape.

These tastings follow a familiar format. Each person (not each couple) brings a bottle of the featured wine to the tasting. Wine glasses, tableware, bread, cheese and wine scoring sheets are provided by the Club in exchange for a fee of $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Attendees are seated at tables of 5 – 6 people. You are welcome to specify if you wish to sit with friends, and we will try to accommodate your request.

Please remember to bring a bottle of Zinfandel for each member of your party.
