About this Event
The next Grapevine Tasting is on April 29, 2026
At 7pm. I missed the last Grapevine due to an unexpected illness :(, but Bonnie Walsh filled in for me and left me an (empty) bottle of the winning Malbec. I hope the rest of you enjoyed the opportunity to taste this interesting red varietal.
For the April tasting, we will explore another red varietal, Sangiovese. Did you know its name comes from the Latin for ‘blood of Jupiter” – undoubtedly a reference to its regal color. This Italian red, and its New World cousins, is diverse and often inexpensive, presenting us with an opportunity to find new taste sensations among red wines. Please bring a favorite or one you would like to try and discover others as we share our opinions in a blind tasting of wines made with this important grape.
These tastings follow a familiar format. Each person (not each couple) brings a bottle of the featured wine to the tasting. Wine glasses, tableware, bread, cheese and wine scoring sheets are provided by the Club in exchange for a fee of $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Attendees are seated at tables of 5 – 6 people. You are welcome to specify if you wish to sit with friends, and we will try to accommodate your request.
Please remember to bring a bottle of Sangiovese for each member of your party.
