Grangegorman Exhibition and Walking Tour | Dublin Festival of History
About this Event
For centuries Grangegorman was a place of confinement and care. Within its walls were a workhouse, an asylum and a Pr*son, where lives were shaped by hardship – and sometimes hope. Patients, prisoners, inmates and staff all left their mark on this ground. This exhibition invites you to step into their world – a world where the poor and mentally ill had little choice, where a spell in an overcrowded institution was sometimes better than remaining outside these walls. Today, as Grangegorman is transformed into an open, vibrant space, the past still lingers in its buildings, landscape, and memory.
