Grand Sousa Concert - 31st Annual

The Grand Sousa Concert was established in the autumn of 1994 as an annual event for the Meridian Community Band by Conductor Emeritus Carolyn Sherrill. MCB Conductor Mike Scholes continues this long-standing tradition of showcasing the style and content of a turn-of-the-century concert presented by America’s most famous bandleader, John Philip Sousa. Over the years, audiences and musicians alike have met the use of soloists and authentic period pieces with appreciation and enthusiasm. In 2026, expect to hear works by Berlioz, Giordano, Brahms, Fillmore, Bizet, Liszt, and, of course, Sousa himself.
The Grand Sousa Concert is the only ticketed event on the Meridian Community Band calendar. Ticket sales support our effort to bring live music to the community throughout the year.
