Grand Reopening Ribbon Cutting & Celebration
Join us as we celebrate the completion of our exciting transformation and welcome the community back to a reimagined Hickory Museum of Art. Explore brand-new exhibitions, discover expanded Education Department classrooms, experience renovated galleries, and see the museum in a whole new way.
The celebration begins with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a free afternoon of hands-on art experiences and public access to HMA's beautifully renovated spaces.
Be among the first to experience "The Women" by acclaimed fashion designer Charles Harbison, the centerpiece of HMA's reopening theme, "The Golden Thread". Additional reopening exhibitions feature works by Paul Whitener, Jean Cauthen, Francis Simeni, Rosa & Winton Eugene, National Scrollathon participants, and highlights from HMA's permanent collection.
Families and visitors of all ages can enjoy free art activities in HMA's new Education Department classrooms, while HKY Smoking Catering & Events will be onsite serving their signature barbecue, delicious sides, and legendary hibiscus tea.
Whether you're rediscovering HMA or visiting for the first time, we can't wait to welcome you back for an unforgettable day celebrating the next chapter of ART for ALL.
