*Jeff & Paige will lead the family-friendly (.25 mile) hike from the fishing pier to the new Nature Discovery Area and stick around for some nature play!
DESCRIPTION: Celebrate the new Fishing Pier and Nature Discovery Area at Sawhill Ponds with City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP)! This free, family-friendly event will be offered in both English and Spanish. Kids, youth, and families are invited to enjoy fishing, a family-friendly/group stroll and nature play while exploring this special place. Grow community through shared time in nature.
Event Schedule:
9:30–10:30 | Family Fishing Fun
Learn the basics of pond fishing with OSMP staff. Bring your curiosity and sense of adventure! This beginner-friendly session is open to all ages. We’ll show you how to use the fishing gear, set up your line, and follow local fishing rules. Rods and bait are provided - just bring your excitement! (Adults fishing without children must have a valid Colorado fishing license.)
10:30–10:45 | Grand Re-Opening Ceremony
Celebrate the grand re-opening! Join OSMP staff, partners, and community members as we officially open the new Fishing Pier and Nature Discovery Area. Be part of the excitement and help us kick off this special day together!
10:45–12:00 | Nature Play Date with Jeff and Paige
Sing, dance, and explore with children’s musicians Jeff and Paige! Head to the new Nature Discovery Zone to look for insects, spot birds, and enjoy open-ended, hands-on play in nature. OSMP educators will be there to guide your adventure and answer questions. Dress for outdoor fun and get ready to discover something new!
