The idea is simple: we get together on the grand final eve public holiday (September 25), play a massive multiplayer game of Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition, using the Apocalypse expansion, and help support a good cause!
This game will see the players split into two teams. It doesn’t matter if your force is 500 points, or 5000 - all are welcome! We will divide the players up into two roughly even teams on the day! Official models, 3D prints, conversions, third party models, scratch builds, etc, anything is welcome! (And there is no expectation for everything to be painted - that would be unreasonable of me to ask everyone to paint an apocalypse army!) the key thing is that everyone gets together and has a good time.
Any unit rules that were valid during 40k’s 5th edition are valid (whether they be from your army’s codex, the Apocalypse rulebook, Forge World’s Imperial Armour rules, White Dwarf magazine, or even one of GW’s old online articles, etc). Not only that, but the Apocalypse expansion encourages folks to be creative with their own datasheets. Therefore, if you would like to bring your own homebrew unit, this is fine! However, please submit the proposed data sheet in advance and we can have a chat to get it as balanced as possible. Also, if you have units from earlier or later editions of 40K that weren’t in 5th, this is fine too - we can similarly work out how to port their rules into 5th!
Since this is a chance to do some good, part of the entrance fee (see more on this below) will be blankets that we donate to the Salvation Army - this way we are helping the community too!
-On the day-
Times:
•Please arrive between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. We will use this time to assign players to teams.
•Deployment will start at 12:00.
•Once deployment ends, each side can take up to 40 minutes for each turn (after which point their side can make no further movements, shooting actions, or close combat attacks. However, any enemy units locked in combat that haven’t gotten to act yet can attack back still), in order to keep the game moving. Once it hits 8:00 PM, there will be no new game turns after this (if the it is the second team’s turn, the game will conclude at the end of it. If it is the first team’s turn, one more turn for the second team will be played after it.)
Location:
•The Gaming Arena (123 Bakers Road, Coburg North)
Costs:
•$10 per person paid to the venue to use their space.
•On top of this, a donation of one NEW blanket will be the fee to play in the game. These will be donated to the Salvation Army.
•Optional: If people wish to be EXTRA generous, they may choose to donate extra new blankets. Doing so earns you one free bonus strategic to use in the game for each extra blanket you donate on top of the one donated as the entrance fee into the game.
Please express interest as soon as possible - this helps to get a sense of how big the event will be.
Please reach out if you have any questions - this will be a good time for everyone on the public holiday!
