Grammy Winner Carmen Bradford Is Coming to Prime!
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Legendary jazz vocalist Carmen Bradford will appear at The Prime Smokehouse on Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, as she kicks off this year's star-studded Dinner Jazz Series.
"This will be my first time coming to Rocky Mount, and I'm excited about it," says Bradford, who in addition to a 2024 Grammy for “Basie Swings the Blues – the Count Basie Orchestra,” has been nominated for the prestigious award numerous times.
"I've been hearing so much about Prime's Dinner Jazz Series, and I'm honored to be a part of it."
Showtimes are 9 p.m. each night. Seating begins at 8 p.m., and the full menu is available throughout the performance.

Bradford will be joined in Rocky Mount by virtuoso pianist Louis Heriveaux, percussion master Orlandus Perry and swinging bassist Kenny Phelps.
Although Bradford is perhaps best known for her stellar work with the Basie Orchestra, this versatile artist has performed or recorded with an eclectic list of music super stars, including Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, Patti Austin, Nancy Wilson, Wynton Marsalis, David Murray, Lou Rawls, Liz Wright and Willie Nelson, to name only a few. Among her many TV appearances, she was a guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, performing a duet ("How Do You Keep The Music Playing") with guitarist George Benson. She is also a recipient of the Los Angeles Jazz Society's Jazz Vocalist Award.
Bradford was just 22 years old when the great William "Count" Basie discovered her; he was so impressed with her soulfulness, technical brilliance and amazing vocal power that he made her the featured vocalist with the orchestra for nearly a decade. After his passing, she has continued to perform with the group throughout her career. All of her Grammy Award nominations are for albums with the Count Basie Orchestra.
Bradford was destined to become great. She is the daughter of two other jazz legends, trumpeter Bobby Bradford and singer Melba Joyce.
Prime's Dinner Jazz Series continues with the vibraphone virtuoso Joe Locke (back by popular demand!) on June 6-7; Singer Lori Williams on August 1-2; and trombonist and longtime member of the Wynton Marsalis Band, Wycliffe Gordon, on August 5-6. For the first time, you can reserve seats for the entire series at primesmokehouse.com.
