Welcome to our 2026 Edition of the Graham Thomas Lap of Rutland Ride Sunday 30th of August 2026!
👉 What is it?
♦ The Graham Thomas Lap of Rutland Ride is VCR's annual fundraising event held in memory of Graham Thomas one of the clubs founding members who sadly died of Myeloma.
♦ Historically we have raised funds for Myeloma UK but one of our current members, Les Gosling lost his battle with cancer earlier this year so we have decided to use this years event to raise funds for LOROS who provided Les with palliative care.
👉 When, where, how? All the information you need is below…
♦ ALL RIDES DEPART from Oakham Castle Car Park, Market Place, Oakham LE15 6DT
♦ Choice of 3 Routes:
- Long (74 miles) a full circumnavigation of the County border: registration from 8.15am and depart from 9.00am.
- Mid (41 miles) taking in the eastern part of the County boundary : registration from 9.15am and depart from 10.00am.
- Family (25 miles): registration from 9.15am and depart from 10.00am.
♦ ALL RIDES END at the Beer Festival at The Grainstore Brewery Tap, Station Approach, Oakham, LE15 6RE.
♦ Paid up members of VCR can enjoy a free burger and pint but don't forget to collect your tickets WHEN YOU REGISTER.
❗ All participants over 16 are asked to make donation to this years chosen charity on registration.

♦ Just Giving Page:

We are encouraging riders to sign up in advance by simply making a donation using the Just Giving Page that we have created. This reduces admin on the day and means we are not handling cash PLUS you can add Gift Aid which will increase your donation by 25%!
- Please make sure you add your full name to the donation, so that you can be checked off the list as having paid when you turn up to ride.
It would also help if you could respond to the event page confirming you will ride so we can ensure we have sufficient tokens for members at the Grainstore!!
♦ On the day of the ride : cash payments will be accepted, but we do encourage people to sign up in advance.
👉 Important information :
♦ The ride is open to ALL cyclists including those that are not members of Velo Club Rutland. If you have friends who are cyclists please let them know so they might join!!
♦All riders must download or print routes in advance of the ride. Routes will NOT have ride leaders or any signage but if you are alone we will try to match you with one of our experienced club members if you wish.
♦All riders MUST wear a helmet.
♦All children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
♦All riders must adhere to the rules of the Highway Code and show courtesy and consideration to all other road users. Please refer to our Ride Etiquette advice here.
♦All riders should carry items to mend a puncture including spare inner tube(s), tyre levers and a working pump. There is no bike maintenance en route.
♦Please do not ride more than two abreast at any time and single out on narrow roads and on bends. Keep left and do not clutter the road.
