Graham studied piano with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he was a scholar and won the Adelaide Alexander Memorial Prize in 1985.
After graduating, he broadened his musical experiences working with many different musical genres and in many settings. Contemporary music, film music, theatre music and community based music projects were all part of very formative period of development. He worked for many years with The Irene Taylor Trust (music in prisons), Create (Arts) Ltd and Lost Chord, as a workshop leader. This involved facilitating music making and composition with inmates in prisons, people with dementia, vulnerable women, young carers and others whose lives are challenging or compromised in some way.
Graham was a member of Pianocircus for five years (a six piano contemporary music ensemble and artists in residence at Brunel University). He has had a longstanding commitment to music education and its developmental role in the maturing individual and he has been teaching Suzuki piano for over fifteen years. The specialised training required to become a Suzuki piano teacher took nine years to complete and now, as a level five Suzuki teacher, he is regularly invited to teach on workshops in the UK and in Sweden, Belgium, France, Spain and Switzerland. Graham also teaches both online and in person in London and in Kent where he now lives and is building a local teaching practice that reflects his musical sensibilities.
In 2015 and 2016 Graham won second and first prize respectively, in the European Piano Teachers Association (UK) composition competition with "Danza" and "A Sad Simple Sarabande" (from Three Spanish Dances for Piano Duet).
In 2012 Graham was one of six finalists in the international Open Piano Competition.
As well as his commitment to music, the collected works of C.G. Jung are a lifelong interest for Graham
