Please join the Gowanus Oversight Task Force for its seventh quarterly public update meeting and hear directly from City agencies on the status of the Gowanus Business Improvement District and related open space project updates.
Meeting Details
- Location: P.S. 133 (610 Baltic Street)
- Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm (5:00pm for meet-and-greet)
- Format: In-Person Only (recording to be posted promptly after the meeting)

The focus of this public meeting will be on the status of the Gowanus Business Improvement District and related open space project updates (agenda is subject to change) :
- Gowanus Business Improvement District (BID): Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and Department of City Planning (DCP). The discussion will cover the BID framework, focusing on the rezoning, Waterfront Access Plan, and waterfront maintenance to clarify how these elements impact BID formation. The agencies will also provide an educational overview of BIDs, explaining their role in supporting BID formation both citywide and specifically for the Gowanus BID, while detailing how that support will continue moving forward.
- Open Space Updates: Department of Parks and Recreation (Parks) and Department of Envirionmental Protection (DEP). The discussion will provide a high-level overview of open space project timelines and status updates, with a focus on implementation and maintenance in relation to the BID. It will also include updates on the progress of site preparation for open space construction.
- Representatives from each agency will present on these critical areas with substantial time dedicated for Public Q+A. An agenda for the meeting can be found above, and will be distributed as part of an information packet on-site.
About the Task Force:
The Gowanus Oversight Task Force works proactively and collaboratively with New York City agencies to advance timely and equitable implementation of the commitments detailed in the 56 Points of Agreement (POA), as well as community goals outlined in the Gowanus Neighborhood Plan.
Under POA #1, the Task Force formed as a volunteer, community-based group that provides an online repository of information tracking each City commitment’s status and holds quarterly public meetings to promote accountability, transparency, and continued engagement with the Gowanus community.

- Members of the public are encouraged to submit questions that relate directly to the agenda above. In addition, the public is welcome to submit questions on one or more of the 56 Points of Agreement (POA) made by the City of New York.
- Questions related to specific commitments (POA) and/or the functioning of the Task Force will be prioritized.
