Governor's Florida Freedom Tour Visits Sanford
The Florida Freedom Tour is a statewide engagement initiative, designed to deliver high visibility public outreach, educating young people while travelling through all of Florida’s counties in support of the America-250 commemoration.
Rather than relying on fixed locations, the program deploys a mobile, event-based model bringing educational and other museum-like content directly to middle school students, large, existing audiences at major events, civic spaces, and community gatherings. One semi-truck tells the history of Florida at its founding as the 14th colony and the other semi-truck references Florida’s rise in the 20th century.
Beginning May 1 and running through August, the tour will feature two repurposed 18-wheelers transformed into traveling museums, showcasing exhibits and artifacts from the Museum of Florida History.
The mobile museums will:
• Travel to all 67 counties across Florida
• Visit schools, community events, and major gatherings
• Provide interactive exhibits highlighting Florida’s role in American history before and after 1776
Schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.
