About this Event
Fruit, Paste, Ammunition!? A chaotic night of foamy hardcore punk lies ahead for all you Gourdlings rearing for a show. Don't miss this one.
Forged in the damp shadows of Instagram messaging, Baby Bullets were shot into the world. With two feet in both punk and hardcore, and a groovy progressive edge, the pure energy alone will knock your nan out our her chair. Bring your dad, bring your cat, and while you’re at it, help your poor nan to her feet.
Rudimentary Paste emerge like the withered oldmanbabyface of Kuato from the exposed torso of foamcore luminaries such as Not Your Damned Apples, Universal Disappointment Sponge and Morse Code Operator #2. Postmodernist art-rock manwrong wonk nonsense that views the fiasco of the current political landscape through the lens of John Carpenter’s The Thing, Harryhausen stop-motion and Troma Entertainment to conjure audio images of upside-down Kwasi Kwarteng/Ed 209 hybrids, post-Brexit Octopus Milk farmers, Harris Hawks terrorising the people of Hertfordshire and the suicide of the dolphin who played Flipper. This delicious soup is noise-flavoured.
'unpredictable, unfiltered, and utterly essential' The Devil Has the Best Tuna
'like primus and the Jesus lizard had a wonderful love child' Asonica Radio
'a chaotic sonic visceral assault' BBC Fresh on the Net
‘this is right up my strasse. Short, shouty & bonkers’ Tom Robinson The Listening Post
Gourds cross the boundaries of punk music with nonsensical lyrics touching on all the most vital world issues, such as loving their mums, murderous taco trucks, why girls don’t like you and aliens. All while combining combine heavy hardcore punk influence with reggae, psychedelic and other switch ups to keep you on your Gourdy toes.
A gourd is a fruit from a flowering plant species in the family Cucurbitaceae, there are many species of gourd, some with hard shells and some without. They do vary a lot as most fruits do, some can be very small making the shape of a typical shaker and some can be extremely heavy and large, mainly the variety Zucca melon (the giant gourd.)
Edible gourds include the ones usually referred to as squash, whilst most are only ornamental due to their hard shells, being inedible and not tasting very nice. Pumpkin is also a member of the same family as gourds. Growing them as a plant can be possible if they are given full sun and rich well-drained soil, they do also grow very quickly and should have some type of support such as a trellis or fence.
