P&T's monthly book club about all things NYC!
About this Event

P&T Knitwear is please to welcome you to our in-house reading group, the Gotham Book Clubmeeting once a month to discuss our favorite fiction & nonfiction about New York City. This month, we'll be reading & discussing , by Adam Ross: a big and big-hearted novel centered around one enthralling, transformative year in the life of a child actor coming of age in a bygone Manhattan.

A boy "lost in the house of adulthood, trying to learn how to be one of the people he sees around him," (Alexander Chee, author of How to Write an Autobiographical Novel) Griffin Hurt is teetering on the edge of collapse. Surrounded by adults who embody the age’s excesses — and who seem to care little about what their children are up to — Griffin finds himself again and again in the back of a Mercedes sedan with Naomi Shah, twenty-two years his senior, confessing all to the one person who might do him the most harm.

Published to rave acclaim and praise by The Washington Post ("the stuff great novels are made on"), the New York Times ("a gorgeous cat's cradle of a book"), the Los Angeles Times ("a revelation"), the New Yorker ("engrossing"), and Vogue ("dazzling and endearing"), is less a bildungsroman than a story of miseducation, a novel of epic proportions, bursting with laughter and heartache, evoking the entirety of Manhattan and the ethos of an era.

  • This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.
  • Cost of a $5 general admission ticket can be applied towards your purchase of next month's book club pick or any product in our café the night of the book club meeting.
  • If you would like a copy & cannot attend the event, we're happy to take your pre-order for this month's book or next. We ship most places!
