(Please note that GORUCK Crawford County is not the official host of this event. The event is being hosted by Brian Knickerbocker and various fire departments across Crawford County. Brian and his team will be accepting donations at the event for the National Fallen Firefighters Association. Please consider donating.)
Join us in memory of those who gave their lives on 9/11 along with the greater community of Meadville. We will share more details closer to the event date.
Date: Friday, September 11th
Time: 6 PM (awaiting official announcement to confirm)
Route Leader: Donavan Lacy
Meeting Location: Crawford County Fairgrounds Grandstands
Distance: 110 flights of stairs
Difficulty: Hard
Cost: Free
Children and leashed pets are welcome.
Essentials to bring: Water, appropriate footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather, and a positive attitude.
No ruck? No problem! Walkers are always welcome to join us with zero shame. Empty backpacks work too! We all carry different weights according to our personal fitness goals. Those who aren't able to do the stairs are welcome to walk back and forth across the race track.
Rucking is a form of physical activity that involves walking with a loaded backpack (or ‘rucksack’) over various distances and terrains. (Plate carriers and sandbags are also welcome.) A moderate amount of added weight can produce the same stimulus and metabolic benefit as running, while also strengthening the legs and lower back. Rucking is similar to hiking and is often used as conditioning by backcountry hunters, endurance athletes, and those in the military and emergency services.
