Ascension Alexian Brothers, St. Alexius and Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital executive leaders will be joining Good Morning Schaumburg to talk about all of the clinical services provided to Schaumburg and adjacent communities. They will all share updates on their respective facilities, current services and other exciting updates about the future of Ascension in IL, including recent updates to the facilities, areas of expertise at each hospital and much much more. Dan Doherty, the President of Alexian Brothers has provided updates in previous years but this year we are hosting executive leaders from all hospitals that service our communities and will host a Q&A afterwards.

President & CEO, Ascension Alexian Brothers, MBA, FACHE
Dan Doherty is the President & CEO at Ascension Alexian Brothers, a 397-bed hospital in Elk Grove Village, IL. During his tenure, Alexian Brothers approved the largest campus construction project in the last 15 years, with plans to add a dedicated Neurosciences inpatient unit and four new operating rooms to the hospital. Dan has previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at Ascension Alexian Brothers, the COO at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI and the Vice President of Operations at Advocate South Suburban Hospital and Advocate Trinity Hospital.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also has certifications in Artificial Intelligence in Health Care from MIT and project management from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Vanessa Hiland, MSN, MBA
Chief Operating Officer, Ascension Saint Alexius
Vanessa Hiland is the Chief Operating Officer for Ascension Saint Alexius a 314 bed-hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL. Vanessa has held this role for over the last two years, and has been part of the greater Ascension system for twenty years. A nurse by background, Vanessa has held other roles in the system such as Regional Director of Patient Care Services for both Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois and Saint Joseph, in Elgin Illinois. During the pandemic, Vanessa served as Chief Nursing Officer at Saint Joseph Elgin.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Northern Illinois University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University, a Masters of Science in Nursing and Masters in Business Administration, both from Benedictine University.

Clayton Ciha
President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Illinois Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital

Clayton Ciha is President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Illinois Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, a 141 bed psychiatric and addictions facility with inpatient, ambulatory health, and outpatient services. He also collaborated with key administrative, clinical, operational, and philanthropic stakeholders to build the first residential facility for that health system: the Foglia Family Foundation Residential Treatment Program, a 48-bed anxiety and addiction program, which opened in Spring 2017.
Additionally, oversees the Ascension Illinois Behavioral Medicine Institute with operational oversight of additional hospital and community based psychiatric and ambulatory health programs throughout the northwest and metro areas of Chicago. Mr. Ciha also serves as President for the Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, Alexian Brothers Housing and Health Alliance and Presence Behavioral Health. He is a current member and the past chairperson for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association Behavioral Health Steering Committee.
