Conversations about life, death and dying
4 July, 8 August [3hrs], 5 September, 7 November
11am-1pm, Northern Arts Hotel, 359 Barker Street, Castlemaine
Good Grief Lounges are conversations and experiences on life, death and dying, interlaced with the healing power of the arts.
The Good Grief Lounge opens next on Saturday 4 July 11am-1pm in the embracing space of the Northern Ats Hotel,
The Lounge offers a relaxed facilitated opportunity to engage with the community in dealing with death and loss in open conversations with a series of qualified speakers.
We talk about practical matters and also lead healing arts and crafts workshops to increase mental health, based on the scientific proof that that the chemistry invoked by engaging in the arts affects your mind and body…that it transforms your brain and charges your wellbeing.
4 JULY 11AM-1PM
In the July GGL, Castlemaine Cemetery Manager Debra Tranter will offer information, and Arts Therapist Marita Jacobssen will lead us in creating Grief Poetry. There will be time to sit and share if you wish over a home cooked morning tea.

Background:
The Good Grief Lounge is a safe, embracing place to talk about death and dying, to listen, learn and share with people who care in a relaxed environment with music, morning tea and a couple of talks.
The purpose of the events is to inform, reduce fear of end of life, to turn around denial and celebrate death as part of life. This event is a follow-on from the Good Grief events at the 2025 Castlemaine Fringe Festival held monthly on the first Saturday of each month.
Detailed Advance Care Plan booklets are available at the Lounges for $20.
