At Noon on Good Friday we recall Christ’s crucifixion and death on the cross. Meditations and music are offered and the Passion of Christ is sung. A large cross is brought into the church and the people are invited to come up and venerate it as a way of personally interacting with Christ’s sacrifice. The service concludes with the Mass of the Pre-Sanctified during which the congregation receives communion from the elements (bread & wine) consecrated the night before during the liturgy of Maundy Thursday and placed on the Altar of Repose in the Lady Chapel, thus connecting the Last Supper with the day of crucifixion.
