Join us for a Tenebrae of Distance and Darkness. The distinctive Tenebrae ("darkness/shadows") Good Friday service includes the gradual extinguishing of candles.
This service, “Beneath the Cross: A Tenebrae Service of Distance and Darkness” is structured around the Seven Last Words (statements) of Christ from the cross.
Our readers represent people we find in the Gospels, who each lived at a distance, separated from family and community and some, even from God – until they encountered Jesus. Their narratives will reflect the impact Jesus’ words from the cross might have had on them, given their life stories.
The structure of Scripture (Jesus’ words from the cross), Story (personal reflection), and Song will occur seven times.
