About this Event

Join us at Chester Picturehouse for Good Folk Book Club, a relaxed and welcoming space for people who love great stories and good conversation. This club was created for book enthusiasts who want to share the books they love, discover new perspectives, and connect with interesting folk from across our community.

Each month, we’ll explore a new title—sometimes contemporary, sometimes classic, always chosen to spark thoughtful discussion. Whether you’re an avid reader or just getting back into books, you’ll find a friendly circle ready to listen and chat. There’s no pressure, no pretence, and no cost to attend—just bring your thoughts and curiosity.

We can’t wait to read with you.

How it works

  1. Each month one of our Good Folk will suggest a book they'd like to read
  2. Everyone goes away and reads the book
  3. We gather on the last Tuesday of every month to discuss the book over a drink at Picturehouse Chester bar
  4. A new book is nominated again, we read more books!

Our book for June is...

Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash

Good Folk Book Club welcome pack 👋

Every new member who attends GFBC gets a welcome pack including a bookmark, pin, stickers, book club diary and pen. It's our small way of saying welcome to the club.

Our venue

The images below show our venue from the outside and the Cafe Bar space we meet in. Picturehouse Chester have generously given use of their space for free. As such, we encourage members to buy a drink or a snack from the bar to help support our venue. Sincere thanks to their events team for giving us a space to meet up in.
