Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm is sponsoring this training being provided by the Plant Science Food Safety Group.
Attending a Basic Gap Course May Be Right for You if...
• You grow fruits or vegetables and are interested in developing a good food safety plan to increase operational efficiency and build a food safety culture.
• You want help in writing your food safety plan.
• You are looking to learn more about how microbes live and interact with farm environments, and/or
• You have a potential buyer that requires MD Gap certification.
What You'll Get from This Training
• Tips on how to implement practices to minimize your food safety risk during growing, harvesting, holding and packing fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Practice conducting risk assessments.
• Practice writing Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assistance on writing your food safety plan (aiming for 75% completion!)
• A Maryland Department of Agriculture GAP training certificate.
Course Logistics and Registration Information
• The Basic Gap training will take ONE FULL DAY: Saturday, October 12th from 8:30am - 4:30pm
• Course materials including a Basic GAP training binder will be provided.
• You must attend the full day course to receive an MDA GAP training certificate.
• Morning snacks and lunch will be provided.
