Goldraven is a local Claremont band that, along with many others, is keen to establish what exactly the modern soul and sound of Claremont is, with a deep reverence for the ones who came before them. Everything started the usual way—a couple of kids listening to mix tapes of old soul and blues, messing around with guitar licks and harmonies until 4 a.m. on a school night. Then came the day Lauren brought home an old Fender lap steel she bought on eBay, and plugged it into a tube amp…
Their songs are stories of love, loss, losing love, hope, sadness, rage, redemption—and what it feels like wandering the dark streets at midnight, unaware that you’re actually a ghost. This band thrives on the moment when no one quite knows what’s going to happen next, including them.
